Do you need money for school?

The application cycle for scholarships and financial aid for those who plan to attend Cochise College in 2012-13 has begun. Applications for both types of assistance are available online at cochise.edu.

Last year, the Cochise College Foundation awarded nearly $300,000 in a wide variety of scholarships. Some funds target the general student population, while others are designated for students enrolling in particular academic programs or for those residing in specific areas. Scholarships also are available for part-time students.

Scholarship applications will be accepted through Monday, Feb. 27. Scholarship applications are submitted using an online system called STARS, which can be accessed here. Applicants create a username and password, click their way through an online questionnaire, and submit documentation in support of their application.

Staff of the Cochise College Financial Aid Office can provide assistance and will be available at various financial aid information events this semester.

It is helpful if students applying for scholarships also apply for financial aid before April 2. In order to apply for financial aid, students need to have a copy of their previous year’s tax returns or, if they are dependents, their parents’ tax returns. Students can apply for financial aid at www.fafsa.gov.

Scholarship applicants also should plan to register for fall classes between April 16 and May 11. Details, instructions and tips for applying for scholarships and financial aid are available on the Cochise College website.
