Last Saturday, Sept. 20, the Cochise College women’s basketball team spent the morning helping Bisbee Vogue, Inc., with its Ironman Ice Competition.

Players monitored the course, timed the event, handed out water and ran registration, while competitors grab a 10-pound block of ice in a pair of antique tongs, sprinted up 155 stairs, dashed across a trail and paved road, and zoomed down a steep winding hill to an exhilarating finish.

“This was a great opportunity for us to support the local community of Bisbee and help organize a fun event,” Cochise women’s head coach Laura Hughes said. “Bisbee Vogue, Inc., has been very generous in their support of Cochise College women’s basketball and we look forward to working with them more in the future.”

The Apaches are gearing up for the 2014-15 season. Scrimmages start in October and the season kicks off in November.
