The Cochise College Center for Lifelong Learning‘s Brown Bag Lecture Series is presented each semester at the college’s campuses and centers. Weekly free lectures and presentations offer attendees the opportunity to hear fascinating stories and learn about a wide array of topics in a no-pressure environment.

This semester, lectures are presented on Mondays at the Benson Center, Tuesdays at the Douglas Government Center, located at 1012 N. G Ave., and Wednesdays at the Sierra Vista Campus in room 702. All lectures are from 12:10 to 1 p.m. and attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch.

• “Mining Nuggets of Benson History”
Monday, Nov. 18, Benson Center
Dan (Larry) Thomas, whose youth was spent in the Benson/Pomerene area, will talk about bits of Benson history. Follow Thomas in his search for the good, the bad, and the downright fictitious. Enjoy reflecting on Benson’s yesteryear.

• “Nepal”
Tuesday, Nov. 19, Douglas Government Center
Joan Reichel will share her adventure of trekking through Nepal in the Kumbu Valley on the trail to Mount Everest. Reichel ascended 15,000 feet to Ama Dablam mountain base camp.

• “Cochise County Sheriff’s Office”
Wednesday, Nov. 20, Sierra Vista Campus, room 702
From narcotics and border protection to SWAT, Search and Rescue, and Corrections, learn more about the varied responsibilities and future goals of the Cochise County Sheriff’s Department.

This week concludes the fall Brown Bag Lecture series. Spring lectures begin in February.
