IMG_8849DOUGLAS — The Cochise College baseball team swept a four-game series against New Mexico Military Institute in its season opener Sunday and Monday.

The Apaches won the Sunday doubleheader 13-3 and 6-1, followed by Monday’s doubleheader 10-1 and 14-7.

Darick Hall picked up the win in the first game Sunday, going five innings and allowing three runs. Hall also went 3 for 4 with three RBIs at the plate. In game two Sunday, Kade Wagner got the win on the mound, allowing a run on three hits in six innings.

On Monday, Tyler Fallwell pitched five innings and Jackson Overlund had three RBIs in the first game. Cochise had 18 hits in game two, with Louis Boyd getting four of them, as well as four RBIs. Nick Borowski earned the win.

Next, Cochise travels to Las Vegas for a four-game set against Western Nevada this weekend. The Apaches return home Feb. 13 for a noon doubleheader against Thompson Rivers. Admission is free to all regular-season home games.
