11040395_957196260981657_7329437648486584895_nCASPER, Wyo. — The Cochise College women’s rodeo team placed 16th overall at the College National Finals Rodeo, held last week in Casper, Wyo.

Blue Mountain Community College’s women won with 517 points, and Tarleton State University’s men’s team won with 915 points.

For Cochise, Janey Reeves took sixth place overall in breakaway roping. Makayla Boots scored points for the Apaches in goat tying with a 22nd-place finish. Also competing in goat tying were Georgia Diez, who placed 23rd, and Arianna Assini and Reeves, who both placed 45th. Diez finished 10th overall in barrel racing.

Jalen Joaquin was the lone CNFR qualifier for the Cochise College men’s team. In the bull riding event, Joaquin hit the bull with his free hand during the ride and finished with no score.
