The Small Business Act, as amended by the Small Business Jobs Act of 2010 on Sept 27, 2010, requires that each Small Business Development Center network have at least 5 or 10% of their small business counselors — whichever is the lesser amount — achieve certification in export and trade counseling.

SBDC counselors can become certified by passing the SBA Intermediate Level online certification exam, or by attaining the more advanced level Certified Global Business Professional designation from NASBITE.

Bob Mucci, Business Analyst from the Cochise College SBDC, is the first SBDC counselor in the Arizona state network to pass the SBA Intermediate Level Certification exam.

Mucci is now preparing to take the Certified Global Business Professional exam accredited by NASBITE International, a professional organization for the global business community with a mission to advance global business practice, education and training, this summer.
