Cochise College men’s basketball team traveled to Chandler-Gilbert on Wednesday night and returned home with a 94-80 victory. This win sets the Apaches at 19-3 overall and 11-3 in conference.

Cochise jumped on the Coyotes early in the game, full court pressing CGCC and pushing the lead to 19 points at halftime (51-32). Six Apaches scored double figures, with Justin Jones leading the way with 19 points, on 6-13 shooting from the field and making five 3-pointers.

Arell Hennings finished with a double-double, recording 12 points and 12 assists, while freshman Dallas Polk-Hilliard added 14 points and 6 rebounds. Sophomore guard Jawan Stepney chipped in 13 points for the Apaches, while Emanual Shepherd and Chaz Mack both gave Cochise 10 more points each.

“This was a big win for us. Every game from here on out is going to be a big game,” said Head Coach Jerry Carrillo. “We have three home games in a row over the next week and a half, all against really quality opponents,” Assistant Coach Guy Meyer, added.

The Apaches sit atop the ACCAC with Phoenix College and Arizona Western both one game behind and eight regular season games to go. Cochise will host Eastern Arizona College at the Stronghold on Saturday night, with tip-off coming at 7:30 p.m.
