JabenSophomore Jaben Garrett signed his National Letter of Intent with the Northern New Mexico Eagles (NNME), and becomes the fourth Apache to sign to a four-year school this year.

Jaben came to Cochise College from Turrell, Arkansas and helped guide the Apaches to back-to-back Region I championships.

“During Jaben’s two years here at Cochise, he provided a great amount of energy in practice and games,” said Head Coach Jerry Carrillo. “He was an elite practice player and because of that his game was able to grow.”

The energy and effort allowed him to receive the teams Most Improved Player during the 2014-2015 season with the Apaches.

“I am very thankful for the opportunity to play here at Cochise. The coaching staff really helped me develop into the player I am today,” Garrett said.

The Eagles went 13-14 last season and they are an Independent Institutions.

“Jaben brings our team a great deal of experience, hard work and rebounding ability that could potentially take us to the next level,” said Head Coach Ryan Cordova. “His respect of the game, peers and coaches separates Jaben from other players with similar physical abilities. Right now we are filling voids in our roster, and Jaben just made the void in the roster at his position much, much better.”

Jaben Garrett said he chose NNMC becuase of the educational oppertunities and becuase of the strong program that the university provides. “The coaching staff and the players were amazing hosts during my visit.” Garrett explained. “I really value that the coaches have a great plan for the program and are willing to work hard right along with the players.”
