DOUGLAS — The Cochise College women’s soccer team kicks off its season this week with its home opener Saturday, Aug. 24 against Glendale.
Since the Douglas Campus field is not ready for play, Saturday’s game will be played at Douglas High School, which will be the site for most of the Cochise soccer games this season. Three games are tentatively scheduled in Sierra Vista.
Cochise returns seven players from last season, in which the team finished 9-9-3, closing with a 1-0 loss to Phoenix College in the quarterfinals of the NJCAA Region I tournament. The sophomore class is joined by local newcomers from Sierra Vista and Douglas, as well as players from Utah, California, Nevada and Spain.
“We are very much looking forward to the upcoming season,” said Cochise head coach Andrea Daniels. “We have found a solid group of incoming freshmen to complement our fierce group of returning sophomores.”
The Apaches play a schedule full of Arizona Community College Athletic Conference opponents through the end of October. Admission is free to all regular-season home games.
