Cochise College has been selected for the 2016 Military Friendly® Schools list, as chosen by Victory Media. The competitive list honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities, community colleges, and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace military students and to dedicate resources to ensure their success both in the classroom and after graduation.
“Post-secondary institutions earning the 2016 Military Friendly® School award have exceptionally strong programs for transitioning service members and spouses,” said Daniel Nichols, Chief Product Officer of Victory Media and Navy Reserve veteran.

The Military Friendly Schools® website, found at Militaryfriendly.com, features the official list of schools, interactive tools, and search functionality to help military students find the best school to suit their unique needs and preferences.
Victory Media wrote a summary of the many qualities Cochise College offers to its military community: “Cochise College has served the military community since it opened in the 1960s. The college staffs a location offering classes and services on post, making the institution friendly and accessible to members of the military and their dependents. The college recognizes the high school equivalency certificate/diploma; recognizes learning gained from specialized training and military experience; establishes competency by nationally recognized means, such as standardized tests; maintains flexible transfer-of-credits policy for the mobile, active-duty or retired servicemember; conducts timely evaluations of educational records and relevant experiences of servicemembers; completes a student agreement or degree completion plan for all degree-seeking servicemembers.”
Cochise College President J.D. Rottweiler said, “Cochise is committed to providing a supportive environment for the men and women who are serving our country. We are excited about this recognition and will continue to do our best to create opportunities for their education.”
Now in its seventh year, The Military Friendly® Schools designation process includes extensive research and a data-driven survey of thousands of schools nationwide approved for Post-9/11 GI Bill funding. The data was independently tested by EY (Ernst & Young) based upon the weightings and methodology established by Victory Media. Each year, schools taking the survey are held to a higher standard than the previous year via improved methodology, criteria, and weightings developed with the assistance of an academic advisory board (AAB) consisting of educators from schools across the country. A full story and detailed list of 2016 Military Friendly Schools® have been highlighted in the annual Guide to Military Friendly Schools®, distributed in print and digital format to hundreds of thousands of active and former military personnel.
