In the opening half, Paradise Valley scored first, but the Apaches battled back. Cochise managed to put the ball in the back of the net before the break on a free kick, but the goal was not counted because of an offsides call.

Despite a losing effort, second-year head coach Andrea Daniels said she was glad to see the girls play hard in their first contest.

“We couldn’t find the back of the net again, but we played our hearts out,” she said. “We just didn’t get the result we hoped for or deserved.”

The Apaches continue on the road with a game at 10 a.m. Saturday at Scottsdale Community College.
