Apaches dismantle CCC Saints to win 7th game in a row

Douglas, AZ—The Cochise College Men’s basketball team overcame a 14 day “pause” to win their 7th game in a row in this Spring ’21 NJCAA season with an impressive 97-62 non-conference  win yesterday afternoon over the visiting Community Christian College Saints an NJCAA DI Independent out of Redlands CA,  in the Stronghold gymnasium.

The Apaches did look sluggish and rusty in the first half coming into halftime holding a slim 42-39 lead. The Apaches used a strong defensive effort in the second half to outscore the Saints 55-23 in the final 20 minutes. Cochise was led by sophomore guard Brian Rios who poured in 23 points going 7-11 from 3 point range. Freshman guard Johnny Garcia had a solid floor game with 17 points and 6 assists off the bench.  Sophomore guard Jalun Trent continued his consistent play with 14 points and 7 assists. Sophomore, Patrick Samoura continued his strong rebounding efforts grabbing 10 rebounds.

Cochise is now 7-2 overall and is sitting in first place in the ACCAC with a 6-1 conference record.

Next Up

The Apaches travel to Thatcher, AZ on Tuesday March 23rd to take on ACCAC rival Eastern Arizona College.  This will be the 4th and final game
