The number 18th Cochise College women’s soccer (National Ranking in the latest NJCAA Women’s Soccer Coaches’ Top 20 Poll) dropped a season opener on the road against Phoenix College. The Apaches played the Bears scoreless until the 25th minute when Giselle Gonzalez opened the scoring for the Bears. The Bears scored in the 25th, 31st, and 39th minute to take the 3-0 lead into halftime. After a 20-minute struggle in the first half, Apaches picked up the game in the second half, allowed one goal against, and created a couple of scoring opportunities. 

Maria Azarias from Santa Catarina, Brazil, recorded two shots on goal, while Marlene Padilla from Nogales, Arizona, and Clara Steffensen from Hvidovre, Denmark, recorded each shot on a goal.
