The Cochise College baseball team is now (17-13) in the conference after they split the doubleheader at home on Tuesday, April 20. In the first game, the Apaches turned to RHP Treyjen Meza for the start. Meza was credited with the loss, which allowed six hits and five runs in his five-inning affair, walking three and striking out five. Cochise responded quickly to the two-run deficit in the first inning, scoring one in second on a double from Javier Gutierrez. Then again in the third with two more runs, one on a single from Jimmy DeLeon and a sacrifice fly from Makai Desoto. Arizona Western scored in the top of the fourth inning to tie the game 3-3 and again in the sixth with three insurance runs. Cochise made a late push in the seventh; however, a line-drive double play, after scoring one, ended the ball game 6-4.

The Apaches had a hard-fought game two with Arizona Western after trailing 5-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning. Cochise scored three in this inning, which all started with an RBI double off the bat of Hernan Yanez. Marco Ozuna got the win throwing the last three innings to give the Apaches a chance to come back. He went three and a third, allowing one hit and one run, striking out six, and walking zero. Cochise was able to tack on one run in the seventh to keep it close and then two more in the ninth to complete the comeback. Gutierrez was the hero with his two-strike single in the ninth to give Apaches their first walk-off victory of the season.
