The Cochise Apaches traveled on Thursday, May 6, to Glendale and faced the Gauchos for their last regular-season game. The game proved to be difficult for Cochise, who played with limited numbers in 100-degree weather.
The Glendale Gauchos opened the score in the 23rd minute, and it was the only goal in the first half. The second half offered four goals. Glendale found the net from a blast by #6 outside the box in the 61st minute to make it 2-0. Gauchos added the third goal in the 73rd minute. The Apaches countered with a goal by Kayla Reynaud. The goal came from a free-kick taken by Sanne Croes, who found Reynaud for a header. The Glendale Gauchos extended the lead to 4-1 in the 81st minute, which was also the match’s final score.
The loss drops the Apaches’ record to 4-4. The Cochise Apaches finished third in the Conference and will be hosting the NJCAA Division I Regional Finals at the Douglas Campus.
