Cochise College men’s basketball player Stephen “Tank” Byard has received another honor to add to this season’s accomplishments.

Byard, a freshman forward from Atlantic City, NJ, was named the NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) All-American Third Team. He averaged 18 points and six rebounds per game this season. Last month, he was named ACCAC (Arizona Community College Athletic Conference) Player of the Year.

The NJCAA first, second and third teams each consist of 10 players, making Byard among the top players in the nation.

This marks the seventh consecutive year a Cochise College Men’s Basketball player has been named to an NJCAA ALL American team dating back to 2015.

“We are so very proud of Tank as he had a breakout freshman year,” Head Coach Jerry Carrillo said. “He was consistent in his scoring and rebounding all season. Our continued team success leads to individual honors at the National level. Tank gaining this honor keeps the streak alive at seven straight years of having an NJCAA All American. That is true success.”
