A well-respected and widely recognized program, the Cochise College Aviation has announced new plans and modifications. For more than 50 years, the Aviation program has pioneered training to prepare pilots for a solid, well-paying career. It boasts a great location with optimal weather and no distractions, and one-on-one flight training. Many of the program’s alumni work with major commercial airlines, the Federal Aviation Administration, the U.S. Border Patrol and U.S. Customs, air freight services and corporate aviation companies.
College aviation officials have heard some concerns from the community about the program. “The Aviation Department is not going away,” said Sandra Rosales, recruiter and advisor for the program. “On the contrary, we are excited to start implementing some changes and begin new plans.”
Belinda Burnett, director, added, “We redesigned the training outlines and program flow.” Students are guaranteed over four hours of flight scheduled training every week. They have unlimited usage of the FMX simulators and access to the Advanced Learning Center, which offers three desktop simulators readily available to students. “In addition, we have a Strong Cadet Pathway with regional airlines like PSA, Envoy, and Piedmont,” said Burnett.
“Other enhancements include a Cochise College Aviation Alumni mentoring and guidance plan,” Rosales noted. “Towards the end of the fall semester, we anticipate introducing a new aircraft.”
New students for the Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 semesters are currently being accepted. The Cochise College Douglas Campus is home to the Aviation Program, where there is an on-campus airport. The campus also offers housing accommodations for students who choose to live where they learn. Please visit the Residential Life webpage for more information on rates or how to apply.
