Cochise College will embrace the past and celebrate the future during a grand opening event at the new Willcox Center scheduled for 5-6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12.

The college is finishing projects identified as short-term needs as part of its master facilities plan. The new 8,000-square-foot Willcox Center replaces two portable buildings that had been in use for many years. The facility sits on Willcox Unified School District property at 470 N. Bisbee Road and includes four general purpose classrooms, a science lab, a computer lab, an outdoor amphitheater, and flexible space to host public events.

ABA Architects and Summit Construction Express designed and built the facility. The cost of the project was covered by college reserves.

The grand opening celebration is open to the public. It will include a brief ceremony and ribbon cutting, tours and refreshments, and it will be followed by the regularly scheduled meeting of the Cochise College Governing Board.
