The Cochise College Aviation program (FlyCochise) is proud and excited to announce the recent lease agreement for a new fleet of aircraft. The 2021 Piper Archer TX aircraft will replace an aging fleet that has served the aviation department well. The Piper TX will enhance student training with an electronic display. These technically advanced aircraft will arrive with a Garmin G1000 NXi (with Flight Stream 510) avionics suite that provides students with a Federal Aviation Administration-approved platform meeting ADSB requirements for enhanced situational awareness.
Beginning January, the new aircraft will join the acquisition of an AWOS-3 on-field weather station which greatly increases student safety in flight. According to New Mexico researchers, the college aviation program’s mission has become the envy of collegiate aviation in the southwest. “This is training done from the heart. It would be almost impossible to duplicate the dedication of the staff to their student. Additionally, the diversity of the students is unmatched.”
Belinda Burnett, director of aviation said, “From our redesigned mission to our new aircraft and airport upgrades, we ensure students will lead the pack for high-paying airline pilot jobs of the future.”
The Cochise College Aviation Program has a 55+ year history as a provider of pilots to American aviation. With the 12 major airlines aggressively hiring pilots, FlyCochise continues its training legacy and places only the very best pilots into positions befitting them.
