Apaches rack up win #26 on season

Douglas, AZ– The Cochise College men’s basketball used a balanced scoring attack and solid team defense to blast the visiting Eastern Arizona College Gila Monsters in the Stronghold Gymnasium.

The Apaches were able to lead for basically all 40 minutes of the contest. Cochise led 46-30 at halftime and was able to stretch the lead in the second half as the Apaches had 5 players in double figure scoring.

Cochise was led by last season’s ACCAC Player of the Year Stephen “Tank” Byard with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Jalun Trent and Oscar Cluff added double-doubles in the victory as well. Trent had 10 assists and 10 points, while Cluff had 14 points and 10 rebounds in the victory.   

Cochise is now 26-3overall and 17-2 in ACCAC play.

The Apaches will be back at home on Saturday night to take on the Pima CC Aztecs in what may be billed as the last regulars season Saturday night in the Stronghold.  Tip off is slated for 7:30 pm.
