The Cochise College women’s soccer team opened its season on the road last week with a loss to Chandler-Gilbert, 2-0, on Thursday and a win against Glendale, 6-0, on Saturday.

“Losing is always tough, especially the first game of the season, but we turned it around and battled harder,” said Cochise head coach Andrea Daniels.

In the rout against Glendale, freshman Talya de Leon scored four, while Lisa Christensen and Malika Houston had a goal each. Angela Piccard had two assists, while Itzel Ramos and Briana Lopez had an assist apiece.

“The girls came out ready to play,” Daniels said. “They did very good, moving the ball around, supporting each other and creating opportunities off the ball.”

The Apaches are 1-1 and continue conference play at 3 p.m. Tuesday against Pima. The game is at the Apaches’ field on the Douglas Campus. Admission is free.
