PHOENIX — The Cochise College women’s soccer team finished a long game against Phoenix College on Tuesday night with a 0-0 tie after double overtime.
“I am so proud of the girls,” Cochise head coach Andrea Daniels said. “They worked hard for 110 minutes. They fought, they battled and left everything on the field.”
It was the Apaches’ second straight game that ended in a tie. Last week, during a road trip to California, Cochise tied Southwestern College in Chula Vista, 1-1, on Saturday and fell to Grossmont Community College, 2-0, in El Cajon on Thursday.
Cochise continues conference play on Thursday with a home game against Scottsdale at 3 p.m. on the Douglas Campus. Admission to the game is free.
“Scottsdale is a game to look forward to,” said Cochise sophomore Makenna Lehrman. “They’re ranked (20th) on the national list. We’d like to get a good game in against them.”
Cochise heads into the game at 2-4-2 this season. Scottsdale is 4-1.
“We learned a valuable lesson of hard work and dedication (against Phoenix),” Daniels said. “With this lesson, we have become a stronger team. We are really looking forward to our home game on Thursday against Scottsdale.”
