Cochise College has established many youth programs and activities to nurture and expand engaging youth in lifelong learning. Every year, Cochise College sponsors the Computer Challenge. On Friday, March 3, from 7 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., nearly 200 students and advisors will be at the Sierra Vista Campus. Nine Cochise County high schools and middle schools are expected to participate.
At the Computer Challenge, students will compete for awards and prizes in several events and categories. These include theory tests, such as Java programming and game design; hands-on competition, including word processing and spreadsheets; speaking competitions, such as professional interviews and extemporaneous speaking; and team events, including decision-making and a QR code scavenger hunt.
Volunteers are needed to help proctor and grade tests and assist students and advisors. If you would like to volunteer, or if your school has not yet reserved a place in this year’s event, contact Dan Guilmette at guilmetted@cochise.edu, (520) 515-5431.
Anyone needing accommodation to attend should contact Accessibility Services at (520) 515-5337 at least 72 hours before the event.
