DOUGLAS — The men’s and women’s basketball teams at Cochise College picked up valuable wins Saturday night at home against Glendale Community College.
In the early game, the Cochise women bounced back from a sluggish start, which had them up by only 10 at halftime, to win 78-45.
Yvonte Neal led the Apaches with 19 points, Justina Prairie Chief had 13, Jasmine Lemon had 11 and Johnishia Welles had 10.
Cochise has two regular-season games left, the first Tuesday at Central Arizona College, the nation’s No. 2 ranked team. The Apaches close the regular season Friday at home against Pima.
The Cochise men took care of business as well Saturday, beating Glendale 64-44. Cochise led 30-25 at the half, and slowly pulled away the rest of the game. The Apaches led 46-34 with 10 minutes to go.
Jordan Russell led Cochise with 13 points, followed by Jerry Duckworth and Demeco Blue with 12 points apiece. Joe Bell Austin added 10.
Cochise is 24-4 overall and 17-3 in the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference heading into a rematch with region-leading Central Arizona on Tuesday in Coolidge. The Apaches close the regular season Friday at home against Pima.
Admission is free to all regular-season home games on the Douglas Campus.
