TUCSON — Cochise College freshman Georgia Diez won the women’s all-around championship at the University of Arizona rodeo on March 23.

Diez earned points in three different events — barrel racing, breakaway roping and goat tying. The Phoenix native continues to lead the Grand Canyon Region standings in barrel racing and is second in the all-around standings.

Also at last weekend’s rodeo, Cochise’s Charles Kogianes continued his climb up the region standings with a second-place finish in saddle bronc riding.

The Apache rodeo team is next scheduled for competition on April 19-20 against Navajo Tech in Crownpoint, N.M. The Cochise women are fourth overall in the region standings, and the men are seventh.
