DOUGLAS — The Cochise College baseball team swept Eastern Arizona in a doubleheader Saturday, winning game one 3-2 and game two 3-1.

In the early game, Jacob Potts went the full seven innings for the win, allowing seven hits, a walk and striking out four.

The game went scoreless through six, then Potts gave up two runs, one earned, in the top of the seventh. Cochise answered in the bottom of the final inning with an RBI apiece from Nate Hale, Frank Salas and Tagg Duce.

The Apaches carried that momentum into the second game and scored a run in the first and another in the second. Eastern tacked on one in the top of the fourth, but Cochise added an insurance run in the bottom of the inning and held the Gila Monsters scoreless through the end.

Salas went seven innings on the mound for the game-two win, giving up five hits, four walks and striking out four. Kevin Dorantes came on for the last two innings for the save.

The Apaches (37-11 overall, 23-7 ACCAC), is tied with Central Arizona College for first place in the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference standings and faces Arizona Western in Yuma on Tuesday in a noon doubleheader.

Cochise returns home Saturday against Pima for a doubleheader starting at noon. Admission is free to all regular-season home games.
