Highlighting its new mobile trades trailer, the college demonstrated activities within its educational programs, including a virtual cadaver used in its robust Nursing & Allied Health program, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) training tools, a 3D model of a house constructed by students, Automotive Technology and Administration of Justice virtual reality.
The event, attended by 10 Arizona community college districts, was a vibrant exhibit of community colleges’ role in shaping the state’s workforce and educational pathways. Cochise College brought faculty, staff, and a Fire Science student to engage directly with elected officials and government staff, showcasing the innovative and cutting-edge technology used in the college’s programs.
One of the day’s highlights was the visit from Senator David Gowan, who met with Dr. J.D. Rottweiler, president of Cochise College, to discuss the college’s ongoing investment in rural access to higher education and workforce readiness in Cochise County. Sen. Gowan was given a tour of the mobile trades trailer, a unique feature showcasing the college’s commitment to hands-on, practical learning experiences.
The discussions with elected officials and government representatives underscored a shared commitment to advancing community college education and workforce development in Cochise County and beyond. By demonstrating the use of innovative and immersive technology in its programs, Cochise College not only highlighted its role in providing high-quality, accessible education but also its contribution to preparing students for the demands of the workforce and new economy.
The event served as a call to action for continued collaboration between community colleges, government officials, and industry partners to further enhance Arizona’s educational opportunities and workforce development.
