DOUGLAS — The Cochise College soccer team lost to Chandler-Gilbert on Monday night, 2-1.
The teams were scoreless at halftime, but Chandler-Gilbert managed two goals just a few minutes into the second half, both off corner kicks. The Apaches responded late in the game with a goal by Brittany Melvin off a corner kick by Brooke Madden.
“We couldn’t even the score and take the lead,” said Cochise Head Coach Andrea Daniels. “We look forward to our first away game this Thursday against Pima.”
Thursday’s game in Tucson begins at 3 p.m. On Saturday, the Apaches are on the road at Gateway Community College in Phoenix, then return to Douglas on Sept. 5 against Paradise Valley. Cochise’s next two home games are scheduled to be played at Douglas High School while the Douglas Campus field recuperates from the heavy summer monsoon.
