TUCSON — The Cochise College soccer team beat Pima Community College on Thursday 1-0 in the Apaches’ first away game of the season.
The teams were scoreless at the half. In the 63rd minute, Ivonne Cisneros scored unassisted to give Cochise the edge and, ultimately, the win.
“We were evenly matched with Pima in our style of play; offensively and defensively,” Cochise Head Coach Andrea Daniels said. “We both created opportunities in front of the goal. I am very happy with the effort level the girls finished both halves with and the way we pushed through for the win.”
Cochise goalies Venese Morales and Danielle Dunn combined for four saves. The Apaches totaled three shots.
Cochise is on the road again Saturday at Gateway Community College in Phoenix. Cochise returns home against Paradise Valley on Sept. 5 and Phoenix on Sept. 10. Both games begin at 7 p.m. at Douglas High School.
Admission is free to all regular-season home games.
