FORT HUACHUCA — The Cochise College women’s soccer team had its winning streak snapped Wednesday with a 1-0 loss to Arizona Western.
Despite Cochise controlling most of the first half, the Matadors scored in the 12th minute with a shot that hit one goal post and then the other before rolling across the line. Cochise’s comparatively short bench slowed down in the second half and the Apaches couldn’t answer to tie it.
“That’s why today was not a good game, the work rate was just bad,” Cochise head coach Andrea Daniels told the Sierra Vista Herald. “It wasn’t Cochise soccer. We decided to play at 50 percent and you’re never going to be successful if you’re not giving it your all.”
Cochise is now 6-3 on the season heading into Saturday’s game at South Mountain Community College.
