Guests at an April 9 reception celebrated the opening of “The Prehistoric Peoples of Cochise County.”
An alumni contribution to Cochise College has made publicly accessible a treasured but long unseen educational resource.
A display of locally significant archaeological materials is now housed in the Douglas Campus Administration Building. The permanent exhibit includes pieces contributed by local families and many unearthed in the 1960s and 1970s by students enrolled in anthropology and archaeology courses. The corresponding artwork depicts the everyday life of “The Prehistoric Peoples of Cochise County.”
Dozens of community members, college leaders, and employees attended a reception celebrating the opening of the display April 9, and more details will be published in the next edition of the college’s “Accolade” newsletter.
In the meantime, guests may view the display Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.; the college is closed Fridays May 24 through August 9.
