“We can’t score the ball right now,” Cochise head coach Jerry Carrillo told the Sierra Vista Herald. “We’re not defending, not taking good care of the basketball, and more than anything, we’re getting behind a lot.”

Against Odessa, Jordan Martin led Cochise with 15 points, Oliver Guerrero had 12 and Tim Jacobs added 11. Jacobs led against NMMI with 13 points with Guerrero adding 10 points and nine rebounds. Ronald Singleton had 11 rebounds.

“We’re young and this was a tough experience for us this weekend in Region 5,” Carrillo said.

The Apaches are 1-3 on the season heading into their conference opener against South Mountain on Wednesday. Tipoff is 7:30 p.m. on the Douglas Campus. Admission is free to all regular-season home games.
