IMG_8381DOUGLAS — The Cochise College women’s basketball team won its seventh straight game Thursday with a 70-54 victory over Quest Prep of Las Vegas.

Tianna Brown led Cochise with 18 points, followed by Te Oramae Solomon with 15 and Destiny Amezquita with 10.

“It was a pretty close game at the half, but we came out at the start of the second half and kind of blew it open,” Cochise head coach Laura Hughes told the Sierra Vista Herald. “We started doing a better job getting the ball inside. We had a significant size and strength advantage.”

Next for the Cochise women is the Pima Tournament next week. The Apaches face Western Texas on Monday and Gillette on Tuesday.

Also on Thursday, the Cochise men’s basketball team took a 2-0 win after Planet Athlete Academy prep school from Phoenix forfeited the game. The Apache men are back in action after Christmas for the Phoenix College Tournament on Dec. 28-30.
