SIERRA VISTA — Celtic Culture Day at Cochise College will be held on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Student Union on the Sierra Vista Campus.
The event, free and open to the public, includes music, dance performances, poetry and a door prize drawing. The day opens with a Welcome Tea, followed by a presentation, “Why Do We Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day? Snakes and All!” by Mary B. Coyle at 9:15 a.m.
The day’s schedule also includes:
• 10:15-10:45: The Harris Family (Song and Verse)
• 10:45-11:15: Celtic Dance Performance (Lora Pettit)
• 11:15-11:45: Irish Ballads (Bill Cassidy)
• 11:45-12:30: Contemporary and Traditional Irish Music (Billy Power)
• 12:30-12:45: Open Poetry Reading (Bring your Irish/Celtic favorites)
• 12:45-1:30: Community Celtic Dance — Your chance to join in! (Led by Lora Pettit)
• 1:30: Door Prize Drawing
“This is a kid-friendly event, especially after the morning lecture, so feel free to bring the little ones,” Coyle said. “Especially since the Sierra Vista Public School District is on Spring Break that week. Crafts will also be available throughout the day.”
