The Cochise College Center for Lifelong Learning‘s Brown Bag Lecture Series is presented each semester at the college’s campuses and centers. Weekly free lectures and presentations offer attendees the opportunity to hear fascinating stories and learn about a wide array of topics in a no-pressure environment.

This semester, lectures are presented on Mondays at the Benson Center, every other Tuesday at the Douglas Government Center, located at 1012 N. G Ave., and Wednesdays at the Sierra Vista Campus in room 702. All lectures are from 12:10 to 1 p.m. and attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch.

Cochise College Center for Lifelong Learning winter Brown Bag Lunch presentations will offer some interesting and informative programs. Presentations are held at the Cochise College Benson Center; the Douglas Government Center and Cochise College Sierra Vista Campus, Room 702.

• “A Matter of Balance” – Monday, March 17, Benson Center
Steve Roybal, Health and Nutrition Coordinator for SEAGO, will discuss improving quality of life and offer suggestions to help remain independent as you age. Learn how to be proactive in managing concerns about falls.

• “Sons of Confederate Veterans” – Tuesday, March 18, Douglas Government Center
Curtis Tipton will be attired in uniform and focus on Private Osgood Knox Jones, a soldier in the 15th Virginia Cavalry Regiment. Through this private’s story, you get a picture of the typical Confederate soldier. For viewing, Tipton will have weapons (no ammunition), personal items and rations usually carried by soldiers.

• “Dementia” – Wednesday, March 19, Sierra Vista Campus, room 702
When a person with dementia finds that their mental abilities are declining, they often feel vulnerable and in need of reassurance and support. Dr. Parag Patel will discuss the many layers to dementia and how we can all help a loved one retain their sense of identity and feelings of self-worth.
