Thatcher, AZ — The Cochise College women’s basketball team came up just short (59-52) in their game versus Eastern Arizona College.
Sophia Elenga had 15 points while hitting 7 out of her 10 field goal attempts, and added 7 rebounds.
Joining Elenga in the rebounding charge was Arianna Anderson, who also had 7 boards.
Coulter Bowlen chipped in 8 points and 5 rebounds, while Jordyn Penniman also had 8 points.
Cochise executed its defensive game plan well, holding Eastern Arizona to just 31% shooting as a team, but its offensive execution was just not up to par.
In this match, Cochise was unable to take care of the basketball, as it committed 27 turnovers. Missed free throws late in the game sealed the team’s fate in its 7-point loss.
The loss drops Cochise to a 7-2 overall record and a 3-1 clip inside its conference. Up next is a big showdown in Yuma vs. Arizona Western on Saturday night.
