Thatcher, AZ — The men’s basketball team earned another win (82-76) over the Gila Monsters of Eastern Arizona College.

Cochise had its best first half of the season. With a suffocating defense, the Apaches held Eastern to (43-29) at half.

“We play great team defense. Guys were sprinting back, talking, and ready early,” said head coach Jerry Carrillo. “Because we were able to limit them to one contested shot, on multiple possessions, it opened up great scoring opportunities for our offense.”

Cochise was out and running, as it had 18 fast break points in the first half with the Apaches leading.

The Gila Monsters battled back and cut the lead to 4 with eight minutes left in the second half.

With clutch shots from Justin Jones and good team defense from the Apaches, they were able to leave with their eighth win of the season. Dallas Polk-Hilliard led the Apaches in, scoring with 22 points and 11 rebounds, giving him his 4th double-double of the season. Arell Hennings chipped in 17 points, 7 assists and 7 rebounds. Emanual Shepherd also gave the Apaches 17 points and 11 rebounds.

For their next game, the Apaches travel to Yuma.
