Yuma, AZ — The Cochise College women’s basketball team beat Arizona Western 72-60.
Sophia Elenga was instrumental in the victory, totaling 17 points and 7 rebounds.
Ciara Fields also was a key player in the game, adding 16 points and going 4-7 on 3-point field goal attempts. Coulter Bowlen had 12 points and 5 rebounds, while Guadalupe Chao chipped in 10 points and tied Elenga with 7 boards off the
glass.
The Apaches executed simple basketball by shooting 54% from the field as a team and holding Arizona Western to 33% shooting with good defense.
Cochise also won the rebounding battle 39-22. The victory moves Cochise to 8-2 in the season overall, with a 3-1 record inside its conference. Cochise will be on the road again for its next game, which will be against Pima Community College on Wednesday in Tucson.
