Tuscon, AZ — Cochise College women’s basketball team pushed the game into overtime but fell short (72-66) in its matchup versus Pima Community College.

Freshman guard Jordyn Penniman secured a team-high 16 points, while JuWanna Milton followed with 14 points. Sophia Elenga earned 12 points and tied Arianna Anderson for the team-lead in rebounds with 7. Milton and Guadalupe Chao both chipped in 6 boards.

After a sluggish first half, the Apaches rallied down the stretch thanks to Penniman sinking 2 clutch free-throws with 3.5 seconds left in regulation to tie the knot at 60. However, Cochise couldn’t finish the job in overtime, as it was outscored 12-6 in the extra period.

The loss leaves Cochise with an 8-3 overall record and a 3-2 mark in conference play. Next up is a home game versus Scottsdale Community College on Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m. before the team takes a short hiatus for the holidays.
