CHANDLER— Kieran helped Cochise College Apaches beat Chandler-Gilbert 8-1 and 5-1. The Apaches needed “fun” back in their lives of baseball and Kieran made it happen for them, this weekend. With 12 games remaining in the season the Apaches look ahead to next week to keep this momentum going against Gateway and Eastern Arizona.
During the first game, the Cochise College Apaches scored in the seventh on an RBI double by Luis Hidalgo, a three-run home run by Jamori Blash, and a solo home run by Jorge Duarte. Adam De La Cruz helped Cochise College Apaches pull ahead for the duration in the sixth inning. With the score tied at one in the sixth inning, De La Cruz came to the plate and doubled, bringing home Duarte and Anthony Toribio.
De La Cruz had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. Hidalgo had two extra-base hits for Cochise College Apaches.
Tyler Fallwell got it done on the mound on the way to a win. He allowed one run over six innings. Fallwell struck out 11, walked none and gave up four hits. De La Cruz, Duarte, Hidalgo and Blash helped lead Cochise College Apaches. They combined for seven hits and eight RBIs. During the second game, the Cochise College Apaches scored in the first on an RBI single by Luis Hidalgo, a sacrifice fly by Jackson Overlund, and a sacrifice fly by Jamori Blash.
Hidalgo was hot from the plate for Cochise College Apaches. Hidalgo went 3-5, drove in one and scored two runs. Juan Aguilera‘s 10 strikeouts helped Cochise College Apaches to the victory. Aguilera allowed one earned run on three hits and four walks over six innings.
Cochise College Apaches matched its one-run fifth inning with one more in the ninth. In the fifth, Cochise College Apaches scored on an RBI single by Overlund, scoring Hidalgo.
