Join the Cochise College Small Business Development Center, the Sierra Vista Area Chamber of Commerce and the Sierra Vista Herald for our annual Women in Business Conference.
This free event is set for Saturday, Aug. 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sierra Vista Campus. This year’s topic will be “Business Planning.”
Presenters begin the day by going over each section of a business plan and covering what it should contain. This quick review will provide valuable information for those creating a plan for a new business or reviewing a plan for an existing business.
Speakers will be Mark Schmitt, SBDC Director; Cecilia Rivas Schurmann, SBDC International Trade Specialist; Eric Witt, Financial Advisor and Portfolio Manager from Morgan Stanley Smith Barney; Margarita Fate, Cochise College instructor; Bob Mucci, SBDC Business Analyst; Becky Bjork, Sierra Vista Herald Advertising Director; Kathleen Wise, Assistant Vice President and Relationship Manager of National Bank of Arizona; Dr. Dorothy Guy Bonvillain and Dr. Maria Church, Owners of LBL Consultants.
The conference then breaks for lunch at the Union Cafe, which has a variety of lunch items for sale. This break provides an opportunity to network with other women in business and view the vendor exhibits. Dillard’s will have a pop-up store exhibit and sales area.
Attendees then come back for a fashion show before closing the day with a panel discussion with successful women from our area. These business owners and managers will give their insight on topics submitted in advance by attendees. The panel will include Amanda Baillie, Executive Director of the Sierra Vista Area Chamber of Commerce; Joanna Johnson, Store Manager of Sierra Vista’s Dillard’s; and Elsie MacMillan, Owner of Sierra Toyota.
There are still vendor opportunities available. For more information or to register over the phone, contact Rachel Norton with the Cochise College Small Business Development Center at 515-5478 or nortonr@cochise.edu.
