Cochise is now (10-6) in conference play after they swept Gateway Community College on the road in Phoenix, Arizona on Friday the twenty-sixth of March. In Game one Cochise turned the ball to Nate Rohlicek for the start. Rohlicek was dominant in his outing going all seven innings without allowing a run. The Freshman RHP cruised to a 2-0 victory allowing four hits and zero runs while striking out three and walking one. Cochise collected eight hits in the game, scoring runs in the second and fifth innings of the game. Javier Gutierrez put the Apaches on the board with an RBI single in the second inning. Connor Caskanette hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth to make it 2-0. Ethan Silcox, Cameron Crotte, and Gutierrez each racked up multiple hits for Apaches in Game 1.
In Game two of the doubleheader, Ismail Pontiac got the start on the mound for the Apaches. The left-hander allowed five hits and three runs over two and the third innings, striking out two and walking one. Jose Velasquez was credited with the victory for the Apaches. The freshman RHP allowed three hits and one run over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking one. Marco Ozuna, Mason Piert, and Treyjen Meza all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory. Cochise was in the lead all game but separated themselves after scoring 9 runs in the eighth inning. Marsh, Yanez, Gutierrez, Matos, Silcox, and Caskenette all contributed in the big inning with RBIs. The Apaches offense racked up 11 hits in the game led by Aaron Marsh who was three for three in the ball game. Cochise got the victory 16-8 to complete the day with a sweep over Gateway. The Apaches take on chandler Gilbert at home this Tuesday the 30th of March.
