The Cochise College soccer team traveled to face the NJCAA D2 Champions and NJCAA D2 #4 Phoenix College Bears.
The Bears took advantage of the scoring opportunities and won the game 4-0.
The first half offered two goals. The first goal was scored in the 21st minute by Ariana Leamons. The Apaches had a couple of chances to equal the score but struggled to put the ball in the back of the net. Leamons also scored the second goal in the 37th minute to make it 2-0 in the first half.
The second half showed more back-and-forth battle with scoring opportunities for both teams. Kayla Reynaud (Las Cruces, NM) fired two shots towards the goalkeeper, who had to make great saves to keep the shutout. The Bears added two more goals in the 69th and the 72nd minute. Leamons scored both goals.
The loss puts the Apaches’ record to 6-3-1 and 2-1-1 in the conference.
