April 2023 is now recognized as Arizona Community College Month. Katie Hobbs, Governor of Arizona, proclaimed support for the ten Arizona Community College Districts on Wednesday, April 26, 2023.
The proclamation coincides with National Community College Month in April. It celebrates the contributions that Arizona Community Colleges make daily to shaping the future of Arizona and its economy through high-quality education and training.
In honor of Arizona Community College Month, Dr. J.D. Rottweiler, Cochise College president, shared, “Arizona’s community colleges are at the forefront of driving workforce development, economic growth and community engagement. Cochise College is dedicated to providing accessible educational opportunities that promote meaningful careers and lifelong learning.”
Arizona’s ten community college districts include Arizona Western College, Central Arizona College, Cochise College, Coconino Community College, Eastern Arizona College, Maricopa Community Colleges, Mohave Community College, Northland Pioneer College, Pima Community College, and Yavapai College.
Connected through shared goals of access and service, Arizona’s community colleges assure open admissions and affordable tuition as a joint mission. They provide the primary gateway to higher learning and various educational opportunities serving today’s diverse students. Fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, Arizona’s community colleges prepare students to be job-ready quickly and train or retrain workers to fit employer needs. Arizona’s community colleges are the most traditional entry point for underserved students and bring economic vitality to communities that embrace their mission and services.
