TSAILE — The Cochise College rodeo team opened the season last weekend at Dine College.
The women placed third overall with 400 points behind New Mexico Highlands University in first and Central Arizona in second.
The Apaches were led by Arianna Assini with 190 points in the Women’s All-Around, good for fourth place, and Georgia Diez, eighth in the All-Around. Assini took first in breakaway roping and fifth in goat tying. Diez placed fourth in barrel racing and seventh in goat tying. Makayla Boots added points for the women by placing third in goat tying.
The Cochise men took fifth overall with 140 points, led by Charlie Kogianes, who took third in saddle bronc.
Cochise next hosts its annual fall rodeo at the Cochise County Fair this weekend, Friday and Saturday. Slack rodeo begins at 1 p.m. each day with performances at 6 p.m.
