SIERRA VISTA — On April 8, Cochise College will hold a Day of Remembrance ceremony at Cochise College Sierra Vista Campus Student Union from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Survivor Wanda Wolosky will be speaking about her life and experience during the Holocaust at 12:30 p.m.. Afterward, copies of her book, “After All, Life Can Be Beautiful,” will be available for purchase. Information boards and videos will be shown during the event.

Congress established the Days of Remembrance as the nation’s annual commemoration of the Holocaust, led by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. The museum has designated “Never Again: Heeding the Warning Signs” as the theme for this year. Days of Remembrance observances are being held in communities around the country during the week of April 7–14.

“The 2013 Days of Remembrance is an opportunity to look back 75 years, when momentous changes were occurring in Europe, and to examine the responses of citizens and countries to the signs of impending war and the Holocaust,” said Sara J. Bloomfield, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Director. “The dangers of indifference remain with us, and understanding and acting on the lessons of what happened then are vitally important today.”
