TUCSON — Zach Rodgers ran his record on the season to 8-0 in a 5-1 win over Pima in game one, and the Apaches shut out the Aztecs 4-0 in the late game Tuesday for their fifth straight sweep this season.

Steven Naemark pitched eight shutout innings for the game-two win, allowing five hits while striking out three. Kevin Dorantes closed it in the ninth. At the plate, Nate Hale had three hits and scored two runs.

In the first game, Rodgers gave up just five hits and the lone run was unearned, lowering his ERA to 1.17.

This Saturday, the Apaches, 33-9 overall and 19-5 in conference games, host Yavapai in a doubleheader on the Douglas Campus starting at noon. Admission is free to all regular-season home games.

“We’re getting toward the end of the season, teams are playing at the highest level, and we’re still winning,” Rodgers told the Sierra Vista Herald. “We’ve just got to keep playing, keep playing the game and not the other team that’s on the field.”
