BISBEE — The Cochise College women’s basketball team once again spent its third weekend in October volunteering at the Bisbee 1000 Great Stair Climb Fundraiser.
The Apaches worked from 5:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, the day of the event, by helping with setup, registration, race kickoff and the Ice Man Competition following the main race.
“The Bisbee Stair Climb foundation has been extremely supportive of us,” said Cochise women’s basketball head coach Laura Hughes. “We thank them for the opportunity to continue to work with them and give back to the community.”
The annual Bisbee 1000 event raises money for Bisbee Vogue, Inc.’s mission to provide funding for dozens of local charities and organizations, including the women’s basketball team.
