“They’ve brought in a lot of talent,” Cochise head coach Laura Hughes said of Davis Monthan in an interview with the Sierra Vista Herald. “They’re a very good team and we didn’t play well at all.”

On Saturday, Cochise won a thriller over New Mexico Junior College, 63-61. Hoyle led with 16 points and Jessica Almeida had 15. Solomon had 13 points and eight rebounds, while Tianna Brown added 10 points and five rebounds.

“We’re very young and inexperienced and we grow every day as a basketball team,” Hughes said. “I’m really proud of the way they stepped up.”

Up next for the Cochise women is the team’s home opener Wednesday against conference foe South Mountain starting at 5:30 p.m. on the Douglas Campus. Admission is free to all regular-season home games.
