MESA — The Cochise College women’s basketball team fell to Mesa Community College on Saturday 58-57.
Destiny Amezquita led Cochise with 17 points and Te Oramae Solomon added 16 against the top-ranked Division II team in the country.
“We had two good looks at the end,” Cochise head coach Laura Hughes told the Sierra Vista Herald. “We stuck with the No. 1 team, but if we were more consistent, we can beat teams like that.”
The Apaches are 2-2 heading into Wednesday’s game at Eastern Arizona before returning home to the Douglas Campus against Tohono O’odham at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free to all regular-season home games.
